Following The Way
I am deeply troubled by some things I’ve seen over the last few years. It seems we have come to a point where as Christians we are being pressured away from our core beliefs. God has laid out very plainly in His Word what is and is not acceptable behavior for Godly living and has commanded us to “Be holy for I The Lord your God, am holy!” (Lev. 19:2, 1 Peter 1:16)
Now, before I go further I want to make one thing perfectly clear, we are not saved by our good behavior. We are saved by grace, through faith, and even that faith is a gift of God or we’d boast about it. (Eph. 2:8-9) But, if we are saved, we will study God’s Word and be transformed by the renewing of our mind. (Rom. 12:2) So, all that being said, why is it that there is so much compromise in what is acceptable behavior among Christians? And why is the Christian that says this attacked, not by lost people, but by Christians for saying it? The statistics show that we are losing ground in spreading the gospel not because we say Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven, but because we don’t say those things and don’t live like we believe them and therefore the lost world thinks we are full of hooey! If we believe it, we should own it! If we don’t, then stop calling ourselves Christians because we are NOT following what Jesus said, for us to come to repentance, (Matthew 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:32) God is patient that none would perish but all would come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) That’s right, repentance! That literally means, halt, about face, and forward march! A military command that demands a 180 degree turn around. I know we are all human and we will continue to mess up but we have got to stop being a people who are comfortable or content to continue in sin. You may say, (cause I hear this all the time), “Well, the times have changed.” So what? Malachi 3:6 says, “I am the Lord Your God and I do not change!” If God said it was sin thousands of years ago, it is still sin now! What is yours? I don’t know you but I know me and I’m gonna demand of myself to flee from sin, for my walk with Christ, as well as my witness, and continue to tell the truth in love. Because if I say I love you but don’t tell the truth to you, I lie about both!
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Everything old is put away and all things are made new.” (2 Cor. 5:17)
