HOW: Snap a selfie flashing the peace sign and share on social media. Challenge others to share one, too. Post your peace selfie on social media tagging @PeaceDayAustin and using the #PeaceDayATX #PeaceSelfie #PeaceDay
To help celebrate and spread peace, Peace Day Austin is asking all Austinites to “Pay Peace Forward” with a peace selfie and to encourage others in Austin to share theirs as well. Other cities and countries are participating as part of International Peace Day.
Past year’s participants included: Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo, Actor Jaston Williams, Tapestry Dance, Austin Chronicle Art’s Editor Robert Faires, Dale Watson, Rosie Flores, actors, musicians, dancers, poets, authors, educators along with every day Austinites.
Austin joins hundreds of cities and millions of citizens around the world celebrating International Peace Day. The commemorative day was first established by a United Nations resolution in 1981, and in 2001, the UN urged all citizens to commemorate Peace Day through education and public awareness to help make it a reality every year.
