Silver Dollar City’s Bluegrass & BBQ, the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) Bluegrass Event of the Year, brings the heat to the stages and the grills May 4 – 29 with over 60 acts, from top artists to rising stars, including a May 28 concert with 14-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs. Along with kickin’ bluegrass, the festival sizzles with a park-wide barbecue feast, featuring a new BBQ Pitmaster Courtyard and visiting BBQ Master Smokers.

The international award-winning bluegrass festival is the only one of its kind in caliber, number of artists and duration, according to Terry Herd, CEO and founder of Bluegrass Radio Network and a nationally-recognized authority on bluegrass. “With more than 60 bands, over 200,000 attendees and countless things to do and see, Silver Dollar City’s Bluegrass & BBQ is more than a mecca of Bluegrass entertainment, it’s an exceptional experience for music lovers,” Herd said.

Coordinated by 4-time SPBGMA* Bluegrass Promoter of the Year D.A. Callaway, Bluegrass & BBQ presents bluegrass music ’s top artists including 8-time Female Vocalist of the Year Rhonda Vincent with the Rage, 7-time Vocal Group of the Year Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Gibson Brothers, The Grascals and more. Fresh artists add bluegrass variety, including Flatt Lonesome, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, The Snyder Family Band, Jeff Scroggins & Colorado plus Ray Cardwell & Tennessee Moon.

Encouraging upcoming generations of musicians, Silver Dollar City presents the 16th annual Youth In Bluegrass Band Contest on May 27, drawing competitors from across the nation and presenting the hottest new talent.

The park’s Year of Food and Crafts brings a new spotlight on the barbecue, adding a new BBQ Pitmaster Courtyard for barbecue feasting and demonstrations with guest BBQ Pitmasters and BBQ competition champions each weekend. New selections for The House of BBQ include layered slow-smoked ribs in styles from Memphis dry rub to Hawaiian with a mango-pineapple glaze, Barbecue Sundaes, Crazy Corn and Mason Jar Desserts. An all-you-care-to-eat BBQ rib feast is featured on the Square each afternoon with fall-off-the-bone smoked ribs in four flavors, plus the park’s famous 18-hour smoked brisket, direct from large outdoor charcoal grills and the park’s custom-made 20-foot long smoker. Another hot spot for barbecue lovers is the Sauce Shack on the Square with hundreds of sauces to sample.
